About the Author,
Diana Putterman
mother, humanitarian, writer
Favorite job: Bicycle messenger, NYC, summer of 1975.
Pivotal Moment: A posted note in a City College women's bathroom warning women of lurking rapists. She left NYC for a California dream.
Diana graduated from San Diego State, but not before she dropped out to work on the border of Tijuana and San Ysidro, CA as a social worker. She followed her first husband to South Bend , Indiana where she provided social services to agricultural migrant workers and Southeast Asian refugees. In the mid 80's, as one of Reagan's many casualties, she was out of a job and a career. With Reagan ringing the bell of his trickle down economic theory, Ms. Putterman switched camps and became a capitalist.
Diana worked in media sales and management for broadcast companies including CBS and Pacific Broadcasting. She also participated in the start up of 2 radio stations in San Francisco.
After starting her family, she opened a Hispanic marketing consulting business in 2000 which quickly grew into a successful general market advertising agency based in Marin County, Ca.
Diana is retired, has earned a masters in humanities at Dominican University, volunteers as an on line English language tutor to young refugees in Greece, and translates for Immigration for Justice ,and she writes. She loves to travel, do yoga, get around on her bike, eat good food and drink good wine. Most importantly she is the proud mother of Marco and Sam.
